Getting started shouldn’t feel like a mystery.
Here’s exactly what happens from your first message to your first lesson, so you know what to expect at every step.
Inquiry
You’ll reach out and ask us anything, class options, schedules, pricing, whatever’s on your mind before committing to anything.
Application Form
You’ll share a bit about your background, your goals, and how you like to learn, so we can start getting to know you as an individual, not just a name on a list.
Interview & Video Assessment
You’ll have a short, friendly conversation with us about your goals, challenges, and what you hope to achieve, this is also where we figure out the best approach for you. If you’ve studied Japanese before, we’ll also check your speaking level, so you’re placed in exactly the right class from day one.
Class Selection
Based on everything we’ve learned about you, level, goals, and preferences, you’ll get a personal recommendation: 1-on-1, semi-private, or small group, whichever fits you best.
Required Documents
Once you’re enrolled, you’ll receive anything that needs signing, like class policies or terms of learning, so everything’s clear before your first lesson.
Frequently Asked Questions
What if I’m not sure which class type is right for me?
That’s exactly what the interview is for. I’ll recommend the best fit based on your goals and level, you don’t need to decide in advance.
I’m a complete beginner. Do I still need the video assessment?
No, the speaking check is only for students who’ve studied Japanese before. Complete beginners skip straight to class selection.
How long does the whole process take, from inquiry to first lesson?
It varies, but most students go from inquiry to their first lesson within a week or two, depending on scheduling.
Can I change my class type later if it’s not the right fit?
Yes, your class type isn’t locked in. If it’s not working, we’ll talk it through and adjust.
But, this is almost never happened 😉
What if my schedule is irregular or changes often?
Consistency is essential for language learning, so we ask all students to commit to at least one lesson per week, minimum one hour. This is the baseline needed to actually build the skill, not just review it. Within that, we’re flexible: we’ll work with you to find a day and time that fits your routine.
