School Policies
At Nihongo Know, my goal is to provide a consistent and supportive learning environment for every student. To ensure fairness and maintain high-quality lessons, please read the following policies before enrolling.
Weekly Lessons
Japanese is a skill that develops through consistent practice.
For this reason, all students are expected to attend one lesson per week. Biweekly lessons or irregular schedules are generally not available.
Monthly Tuition
Lessons are billed monthly in advance.
Payment is due before the first scheduled lesson of each month.
Accepted payment methods:
- Canada: Interac e-Transfer
- Outside Canada: PayPal (payment processing fees apply)
30-Day Notice Policy
A minimum of 30 days’ written notice by email is required for:
- Cancelling lessons
- Changing your regular lesson time
- Resigning from lessons
Lessons that fall within the required notice period will be charged as scheduled.
Rescheduling Lessons
One-on-One Lessons
- 30 days or more notice: Rescheduling within the same week is guaranteed.
- Less than 30 days’ notice: Rescheduling is not guaranteed and depends on availability.
Group Lessons
Rescheduling is generally not available, as lesson times depend on other students’ schedules.
No Pause Policy
Nihongo Know does not offer temporary lesson pauses or holds.
If you need to stop lessons, you may resign from your lesson slot. You are always welcome to rejoin later if space is available.
Attendance
Please arrive on time for your lesson.
If you arrive late, the lesson will end at the originally scheduled time.
Missed lessons are not automatically rescheduled.
Extended Absences
If you expect to be away for an extended period, please let me know as early as possible.
Your regular lesson slot remains reserved during the required notice period, regardless of attendance.
Communication
All official requests, including:
- cancellations
- schedule changes
- resignations
must be submitted by email.
Messages sent through text, social media, or verbal conversations during lessons are not considered official notice.
Classroom Expectations
To create a respectful learning environment for everyone, students are asked not to:
- Record audio or video during lessons without permission.
- Take photos of teaching materials without permission.
- Copy, distribute, or share lesson materials with others.
- Remove classroom resources or teaching materials.
- Disrupt other students during lessons.
